Dodge Ball Barrage

On Friday night, Brady and I were hanging out at home and one of his friends called and asked if he wanted to fill the last spot on their dodgeball team, so of course he said yes. Evey year, Deron Williams, Kyle Korver and Ronnie Price hold a dodgeball tournament and all the money that is raised go to their charities. We had heard of the tournament, but knew it was expensive to play in, so we were excited that he could participate and not have to pay a penny! He had to be at the Salt Palace a little before 9:00 a.m. so while he did that, I walked in the NAMI walk (the National Alliance for Mental Illness). It was a beautiful day and I was glad to support Tazia and Bradli Jo in honor of their dad; it was really fun to catch up with old friends, too.

Brady and his team won their first 6 games and had a 3-hour break until 3:30 p.m. so I drove downtown after the walk was finished and met him for lunch at Blue Lemon; Katie was working so she met us and ate with us, it was fun. While we were walking downtown, we ran into Donny Osmond! Brady LOVES to get pictures with celebrities, so as soon as he saw him, we stopped him before he crossed the street and snapped a picture with him (he was going to the temple to attend a wedding). Brady asked him if he's watching Dancing With the Stars this season and Donny said yes and that he thinks Brandy will win. He was really nice!

My signed jersey. You better believe we're getting this framed.

Waiting for the buzzer to begin the game. Even though it's only dodgeball, I was so nervous for him! I just wanted him to do well so I had butterflies in my stomach.

After one of their wins
All of Brady's team mates got out and he was the last one on the floor...um, scary! There were 4 guys on the other team and Brady caught the balls they threw at him and was able to get some of his team members back on the floor. Brady's team ended up winning! Good job Brady, way to make me proud.
After winning the first 7 games, they lost their 8th game and were out of the tournament, dang it!

When it comes to dodgeball, D-Will does NOT mess around

We had such a fun time at the Dodgeball Barrage and had a great time seeing our Jazz players so close. Jazz season starts next month and I can't wait!

Utah State Fair & Boyz II Men

On Friday night we went to the Utah State Fair. Brady had never been before so I knew it was going to be a really fun night. We had such a great time thanks to these guys: Oh my gosh, I had such an amazing time. I can't tell you the last time I had that much fun. The yelling-like-a-little-girl, dancing, singing and laughing kind of fun! I have fallen in love all over again with Boyz II Men. After all these years, they still sound amazing and can dance as if if they were 20 years old. The next time they come in town, we are TOTALLY gonna be there!

Our seats were in the middle, in front of the stage. Couldn't have been better! Well, maybe if we were like first row it could have been better, but these were petty darn good. :)

Is there anything better than the big yellow slide? I think not. It costs $2 to ride and it's so worth it.
Weeeeee!

Family Fun

We've had many fun, family gatherings latey so I wanted to post a few pictures. We had a BBQ at Angie and David's as a final farewell to summer...I can't believe summer is almost over. WOW. Anyway, it was really fun and always makes for a great time. We also spent the weekend up at Heber, which was super fun. Brady and I were only able to be up there for a day due to school and work, but we had a really good time.

Park City Marathon

It came and went just like that....I felt like we've been preparing for the Park City Marathon for months and it's already over! No matter how well prepared we thought we were, nothing could prepare us for what was ahead of us....hill after hill after hill.

On Friday night, August 20th, Brady and I loaded up on carbs by eating rolls and spaghetti at my mom and dad's house and then headed up to Park City to check into our hotel. Since the race started at 6:30 am on Saturday the 21st, it was a no-brainer to book a hotel room for the night. We drank lots of water and tried to get to bed early. When the alarm went off at 5:00 am, we were so tired, but had to get up and get ready! I always get pre-race jitters that leave me feeling sick to my stomach, but I gagged down a peanut butter and honey sandwhich and a banana and out the door we went.

We started the race and were feeling great up until about about mile 18 and we completely hit the infamous "wall." By this time, we had made a steady climb up numerous hills, miles of rocky, dirt roads and climbed over 2,000 feet in elevation...quite a task if you ask me. At mile 18 there was the steepest hill of the entire marathon (a horrible place for a hill) that we had to climb. I felt like I was in San Francisco by the look of the hill, but we made it, finally. Miles 20-26 were really hard, mentally and physically. We had heard that the real marathon begins at mile 20 and boy, was that the truth!

Although we completed the marathon, we finished over an hour longer than we had planned. I felt so accomplished, but at the same time felt disappointed because I had my sights set on finishing in a certain amount of time and that didn't happen. So, we plan to run the Salt Lake City Marathon in April to redeem ourselves! Call me crazy, but I'm really excited!
Running to the finish line!

Mmmmmm, food

Thanks Karen, Mom & Dad for supporting us!

Yay...we can finally check it off the 'to-do' list
