SLC Half Marathon 2010

We ran the half marathon this year and had a great time. If you see from the pictures below, Brady was growing out his mustache until after the race...that's why I love him, right?! Anyway, we had such a great time running together. I always tell Brady to run ahead of me because he is faster than I am, but he always stays by my side...I love him for that. This is the picture we took in the car on our way to catch Trax--eating our bananas and peanut butter & honey sandwiches. As we ran the course, my sweet Nana and two of my aunts were on the side of the road cheering us on--what a great feeling! Not only did they support us, but my sister Missy did too! She came and took pictures of us as we crossed the finish line into The Gateway. I am so glad they came out to support us, not only because it's great to see familiar faces along the way, but because we wouldn't have any pictures if it weren't for Missy. Love you sis! She took so many great pictures. Here are some of the great pics that she took. The crowd at the finish line is crazy! Everyone is cheering and screaming and the atmosphere is so fun. The crowd gives me the last little push that I need to finish strong.
Us running the home stretch!
Missy yelled our name and got a picture of us as we turned around...
Heeyyyyyyy! (I'm in the left-hand corner in case you can't find me).
After finishing--a great feeling.
Stretching and unlacing my shoes--oh it felt so good. Our cool socks designed to prevent blisters. Let me tell you, they really work! If any of you run long distance, you for sure need to get these. They are kind of silly, but they do wonders.

I've been trying for over an hour to upload a video that Missy took of us, but it's not letting me for some reason. Grrrr, stupid technology! Anyway, the 1/2 marathon was great, but now we have our sights set on the Park City Marathon on August 21st. Ahhhhh! What are we getting ourselves into?!?!!!

My Utah Jazz

I'm having guilty feelings for 2 reasons: 1). I haven't updated my blog in over a month, and 2). I should be doing my homework...oh well though! For those wondering, the half marathon was AWESOME! My sister Missy took some great pics that I will post shortly, but in the mean time this post is all about my Utah Jazz. We've had so much fun this season going to the games and especially the playoff games! I have never felt so many different emotions in a 48-minute time frame that I do at the games; ranging from excited, to happy, to angry, to disappointed, to frustrated...guess that's what we do it for right? All for the love of the game! Here are some pics from the playoff games.

The noise-makers were vital to the well-being of my hands

Katie got us matching jerseys for my birthday...Thanks Kat--I LOVE it!

Our seats were right next to Katie's so we went to all the games together

When the Jazz played the Lakers in the second round and we lost game 3, I saw four fights breakout at the arena...it was crazy. I looked around as I was walking out of the arena and saw a Lakers fan get his head cut open from a Jazz fan; there was blood running down his face. WOW, this is serious business--do NOT mess with an angry Jazz fan...especially if you're a Lakers fan :).
I'm sad the season is over, but October is just around the corner....Until then Jazz....

Running Update

Brady and I have been training for the Salt Lake City Marathon for the past couple of months and have been so excited to run in it! We figured that while we don't have kids we might as well check this off our "to do" list. The past few weeks, my left knee has really been bothering me; lots of pain and swelling, so I finally decided to go to the doctor this morning. The doc says I have Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS)--I need to do more research on it, but he recommends I stop running and attend physical therapy for the next 6 weeks :(. I told him I don't want to stop running and he said "well, I know how you runners are, I will tell you to stop, but you'll just do what you want, so use your best judgement."

Sooooo, I will not be running the full 26.2, but I will try my luck, and my knee, at the half marathon and hope for the best. I'll keep you posted...

Photo Tag

Here are the rules:

1. Open your 1st photo folder.
2. Scroll to the 10th photo.
3. Post the photo and the story behind it.
4. Tag 5 or more people.

This picture is hilarious!! This was taken last year at a game for the softball league we play in for my work; as you can see, I am VERY coordinated and have MAD skills when it comes to hand-eye coordination! My face is priceless, I am trying so hard to hit that dang ball...I don't know if I did (probably not), but I probably still had a lot fun! At one game, I about died when I hit the ball over the short stop's head--that was the highlight of the season for me; by far, the best hit I've ever had! Looks like it's time for me to hit the batting cages and start practicing because it will be softball time soon enough!

I tag everyone! I think it's fun to look back at old pictures.

Disneyland

I somehow skipped over these pictures and didn't add them into my post below; for journaling purposes, I want to be sure they are included.
Here is pic of us in front of the Staples Center. What a fun night! At the game
Jeff Hornacek!!
We went to Disneyland on February 6th and we had such a great time. Brady's friend, Danny, called a few weeks before that and asked us if we'd be interested in going with him and his girlfriend, Erin. After talking about it, we decided we should go because A) Brady has never been and B) we thought we should go before we have kids; so we booked it! It was a nice vacation and we had a lot of fun. Here are some of the pics from the trip (I took a lot of pictures, so beware!)

This is the first day we were in California; we stopped in Hollywood--so fun!

The wax museum
Oh Marilyn...

Disneyland!!
What is Disneyland if you don't go on the teacups? As a kid, I thought these were the best thing ever, but as an adult my thoughts are a little different. I was a little sick afterwards, but it was still fun.
It rained the second day at Disneyland so we were sure to wear our jackets. It was so great though because there were literally no lines and it wasn't too cold--it was perfect!
Brady was a little disappointed in the infamous castle; he thought it was going to be much bigger.
Scary Haunted Mansion!
They really are happier than they look; just trying to be tough guys--you know how it is.
In line for the Tower of Terror; we were both so scared. I didn't talk pretty much the entire time we were in line because I was so nervous. I hate heights and I had no idea what to expect. Little did I know that it would be my favorite ride in the whole park!
In line for the Tower of Terror on day 2.
A pic from the Tower of Terror; Brady's face is hilarious!
Cute pic of Danny and Brady
Mmmmm, corn dogs and a funnel cake to share; so healthy!
The 3D Toy Story ride; it was so much fun! You get scored on how many 3D characters and stuff you shoot and Brady killed me both times we went on it. Dang it!
While we were in LA, we decided to go to a Jazz v. Clippers game; it was seriously so much fun. Tickets were cheap because the Clippers aren't very good so we were able to get seats on the 6th row! We got to the Staples Center when they opened the doors at 6:15 p.m. and we were able to take pictures with some of the players. D. Will and Boozer had already gone to the locker room, Millsap and Korver ignored us, but were able to get these pics:

C.J. Miles
Sundiata Gaines signing a poster for us of his game-winning shot against the Cavs--so cool!
Ronnie Brewer--he was so nice and I was sad to see him get traded. We will miss you Ronnie.
Wesley Matthews
Boozer and Williams
Huntington Beach

Beautiful!

On the plane sad to come home

I Felt So Special

I felt so special when Brady walked in the door on Saturday night with this bouquet of flowers! I was amazed at how beautiful they were and how great they smelled. I think it's amazing what a bouquet of flowers can do to brighten my day. I love walking out in the morning and seeing these on my table. If I lived in the wilderness I swear I would go pick flowers every day just so my house could smell like fresh-cut flowers.
Another Valentine's Day has come and gone, which marks the 8th year since Brady and I met; what a special time that was for me. It was a time when I realized how a girl should be treated; with respect and love. He came into my life and now my life will never be the same. Love you lots babe.
Here's to you, the man I love!
